Learning Risks

When I was at primary school, my teacher used similar techniques and it worked well in classroom because we were kind of scared to fail at courses and studied hard. Also if we didn't understand, our teacher helped us to understand. Then at middle and high school, my teachers didn't care students understand or not. They just teach their lesson. Because of that, students didn't care their courses and teachers. When I became a teacher, When I became a teacher, I will encourage my students to take risks in completing assignments. Also if any of my students don't  understand , I will help them
eather.

I hope in future, I can face of successfully like these similiar challenges...

Collabration With Teachers

I watched the EDpuzzle collaborative teaching video and kind of like it.  I also had experience in collaborating with my peers just like that video and learn lots of benefical things from them.  Every person, who was my peer had different type of style and techniques. Actually I don't remember my collaborative activities before METU NCC but considered that I really started to study here, so I can tell you about my activities in here.  For example, in prep school, every week, we picked a number and worked in different groups.  We did groupwork about daily news, writings and readings.  Becouse of that, I experienced lots of benefits like learning new informations that I didn't know from eachother.Therefore, I support that, 'collaboration to me is realizing that you usually can't do it all by yourself and that, that different voices lend to a better outcome.
In terms of collaboration, my strong side is that, I am compatible person with everyone. I can keep pace with the enviroment and provide harmony job of work. My weak side is that, I am an emotional person and sometimes I can be upset about something and unfortunately, I can carry that feeling all day long. I have to strength my strong and week side and for me, İf I want to develop my colaborating skills, I have to practive more with my mates and watch videos or read writings about it. I believe colaboration is very benefical for people to develop themselves and learn new informations, so when I become a teacher, I want to prepare a syllabbus with lots of collaborating for my students.

I love superheroes since I was born. They have amazing powers and they always saves the world. Then I grow up and realized that, I've already met lots of superheroes in my life. First, I started to learn from my family. They were my first teacher and always patient and smiling when I do something wrong. Then I met my first friend, when I was three. He was very brave and sincere and he never let me down. Then I started primary school. My teacher was a little bit strict but we can see from her eyes that, She loves us. After all these I started middle school and met first villain. My middle school teacher was the actual term which is that, what you shouldn't do if you are teaching. I learned that to never give up when we are dealing with willians or terrible situations. I've learned lots of things and now I an here METU NCC. I have lots of great friends and lecturers. What would make a teacher most effective and competent? Try to look around at your Superhero teachers.

Personal Statement

Every people says that writing and reading is the best way of relax your soul, relieve your stress, discover new worlds and develop your imagination but not for me.  My name is Günay and I want to be an English teacher. Lets start's with that, why do I hate everytging about lessons? Till the 6th grade, everything was allright. I had a beautiful childhood. However in middle school, I met my nightmare.In Turkısh lesson our teacher was very mad at something. I think she fought her husband before that lesson and I dropped my raiser, then she thought I was talking to my friend when she was teaching.  She said terrible words and yelled me about ten minutes.  I broke out the school the first time on my life.  Though that event I started to hate the school and everything about it. Years have passed and then I realized that, I can think more logically. I figured out that, I really like English for games, series, and movies. Also I remembered these terrible days and I said myself, why dont I become a great English teacher? The day I decided to be an English teacher, I promised myself to be a teacher who, loved, respected, skilled and idelized teacher. Actually, I didn't have any experiences about working with childeren but I hope in last semester, I am going to do probation at high schools. Even now, I've learned lots of things, such as creating a blog and lots of information about it like how to use your blog. Also I learned how can I create video. I hope ı can learn more things about teaching with technology and I know I will. Finally, I develop myself a lot and ready to teach, when I graduate ...

ABOUT ME

My name is Günay Gökkaya. I was born on 06/10/1992. I am a Türkish citizen and this makes me feel great because of our great history. I am currently at Middle East Technical University studying Teaching English As a Foreign Language because it has lots of holidays. What I like about my studies is that, everything we do is developing my English and teach me new informations day by day. What I dislike abour my studies is homework. Lecturers give us lots of duties so sometimes I can't even scratch my head :P. I am saving up for american football armor because I am in schools team but our university does not support us much so we have to buy our clothes ourselves. My home is in Cyprus, Metu and I have lived here for four years. My favorite activity includes playing American Football with my teammates and I love to do it because I love that sport and it helps me to relieve stress. I love to say 'Lets eat' and my most over-used saying is probably 'I am hungry'. My favorite meal is 'mixed pizza' and my faworite snack food is seven days which is actually a chocolate croissant. The people who supports me the most are my family, in my life, they have helped me in every subject and whenever I fell down, they picked me up from the ground. The best time of the day for me is the time I spend with the ones I love because I fell happy, whenever I hang out with them. My all-time role model is Hugh Jackman because I love his movies and I like his characteristic features. I would like to be like Hugh Jackman because he is very dedicated. When he do something, he devote himself and reach his goals so I want to be just like him.

When I was little I remember that there's no homework, no class, but game, so everything was avesome :). My childhood was generally possitive because I have lots of great memories and I've learned a lot from them. I always found and still find school to be very difficult and boring because I hate reading, writing and all stuff like these. The best teacher I ever had was my primary school teacher because although she was very strict about rules, I could feel she loves and cares us and even now I can remember her name (Nejla Dönertaş) :). The worst teacher I ever had was my middle school teacher. She fought her husband very often and then yelled us every time. Actully thats the reason I want to be a teacher because I am not going to be like her and I will educate great students. I proud of that, when I encountered a diffucult situation I never give up because at the high school, I failed about 8 lessons and then my cousin said İf you give up now and don't study, you will fail all the time, so I did't give up and passed all my lessons, Long story short this is the greatest lesson I've ever learned.
MY FUTURE
In my twenties, I hope to achieve to graduate METU NCC and late twenties, I hope to get my masters degree. In thirties I  hope to work at a university as a lecturer and get married. I want two boys and a  beatuful house and most impoptantly, I want to buy Ford Mustang. When I get older, in fourties, I want to raise my childeren and have a peaceful life. I am also interested in American Football so , maybe in future, I can become an important player, then go and play in NFL. Actually, I am a little bit worried about my future because its too hard to graduate from our university and I might not find a good job. I don't know what's the future going to show me but I know for sure that I am going do my best to have a great life...
MY PRESENT
I believe that, if I want a good job and became a gread teacher, I have to fulfill my duties at here. I have to study hard and develop myself as much as I can. I am happy when I achieve something about lessons. For me  its very important to attend the classes and do our assignments because of the personal developement. I am interested in Enlish of course but I believe that, If you want to teach somebody, first you have to understand him or her so I am also interested in GPC(Guidence and Psychological Counselling). I don't know what my destiny is and as I said I going to do my best...

Do teachers actually make a difference to society?

Absolutely yes!! You know, teachers shapes new generations and without great teachers, our world probably become a place which has lots of junk.  I want to share with you my story :). I had a great teacher in primary school. She was very strict but she loves and cares her students too much so everyone like and respecs her. First I like teaching with her. Then, in middle school, I had a terrible teacher and because of her, I've hated everything about school and lessons. Till that day, I didnt even finished reading a book. However, because of her terrible act, I decided to became a great teacher, who respected and loved by their students...
